The only available field notes indicate that the shrimp was collected “under rocks”, at a depth of

, possibly on a fore reef or reef slope. However, the typical collecting style of H. T. Conley was to search for cryptic invertebrates on the extensive rubble beds of
<collectingCountry id="F330E6E2FF96F424FCB0F80CFEFC05A7" box="[890,965,1991,2017]" name="Guam" pageId="9" pageNumber="398">Guam</collectingCountry>
, excavating piles of dead corals by hand (Dennis &amp; Aldhous 2004), often reaching
<quantity id="4CDF0B97FF95F427FD58FF53FFF802F4" box="[658,705,152,178]" metricMagnitude="0" metricUnit="m" metricValue="1.0" pageId="10" pageNumber="399" unit="m" value="1.0">1 m</quantity>
or deeper under the bed surface. This method resulted in the finding of several hitherto undescribed genera and species of crabs (e.g. Ng &amp; Takeda 2003; Ng &amp; Ng 2003), a ghost shrimp (Kensley 2001), and an unusual new species of shrimp from the genus
