<paragraph pageId="7" pageNumber="138">The species has been collected only at two high mountain areas in Costa Rica at elevations&gt; 2500 m a.s.l.</paragraph>

The species resembles the other species of the
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Geometridae" genus="Hagnagora" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Hagnagora anicata" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="7" pageNumber="138" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="anicata">Hagnagora anicata</taxonomicName>
clade, but is easily distinguished by large orange-yellow blotches on the forewing. Males have a spatula-shaped uncus. COI barcode: The minimum observed distance to the presumably most closely related species (
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Geometridae" genus="Hagnagora" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Hagnagora richardi" order="Lepidoptera" pageId="7" pageNumber="138" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="richardi">Hagnagora richardi</taxonomicName>
) is 6.6%.
