until recently. Ruedi (1995) studied
<specimenCount id="8744437F03F6EBB6E5771664E49DFF02" type="generic">11 specimens</specimenCount>
and concluded that they were different from

, a conclusion with which I concur. Surveys conducted on Christmas Isl to determine the status of the shrew (

) were not successful; the most recent specimens were found in 1985.
