There is a dense population of

</taxonomicName>
developed in the littoral area in the vicinity of Portobello (
<collectingCountry id="22E655A2513FFFA9FB5A2B5028F4B7DF" box="[1276,1428,1906,1931]" name="New Zealand" pageId="6" pageNumber="141">New Zealand</collectingCountry>
) and it has been known for a long time. Specimens newly collected from Portobello and specimens collected by Lambert (1994) from Dunedin have been compared with the Chilean ascidians. The results are absolutely similar: body proportions (
