We found toxas in many Brazilian specimens studied (MNRJ 4713, 9405, 17034, 17400), hitherto unreported for the species, and seemingly absent from the
<typeStatus id="6F4F8803FFA5F8612E21FADAFC6EFA5F" box="[802,900,1384,1410]" pageId="11" pageNumber="262" type="holotype">holotype</typeStatus>
reexamined here. These toxas can be quite rare, and occur in both black or brown sponges. We consider Brazilian
