The species has 23 synonyms, and aconsiderable variation. J. F. G. Clarke considers that a thorough study of the male genitalia might result in distinguishing several good species in the lot. In his study of the male genitalia of

material, it came nearest to specimens from Texas, and was different from material from the Orient.
