The species is easily distinguished from other members of the genus by the central pronotal protuberance with the anterior half at most shallowly depressed at middle and not forming a deep gap (Figs 28, 31, 34, 37), and the elytral surface from the basal fifth to the top of the apical declivity remarkably flat and sometimes slightly depressed dorsally, nearly vertical dorsal-laterally.

The body size, shape of the central pronotal protuberance and lateral pronotal spine, and the size of tubercles on elytra of the species are variable. One male individual from Ningxia has the body length only
