pointed out that the tentacular membrane expanded anteriorly along the medial axis and laterally to form a trilobated membrane is derived from the prostomium. However, Garraffoni & Lana (submitted) suggested that the tentacular membrane, or upper lip, is a structure localized in the anterior dorsal part of the mouth.
