Head: antenna black, pectinate with processes short, setose with long hairs; labial palps long, slightly upcurved, yellow; proboscis well developed; frons black, leaden shining, vertex grey, leaden shining; pericephalic scales yellow, black dorsally. Thorax: black, bearing some white hair-like scales at mesothorax laterally. Legs: fore coxa yellow with black margin; fore femur black; fore tibia yellow ventrally, black dorsally; fore tarsus yellow ventrally, black dorsally; mid leg black, hind femur with yellow posterior margin, hind tibia with tufts of yellow and orange scales in middle part and at distal end, tibial spurs black ventrally; hind tarsomere pale orange with distal end of each segment bearing black tuft dorsally. Forewing: brown, scattered with orange scales between the veins; a yellow spot present basally; in place of anterior transparent area a very narrow semi-transparent streak, a similar one in place of the posterior transparent area almost hidden by loosely scattered orange and brownish scales. Hindwing: transparent, rusty shining; outer margin narrow, brown. Abdomen: black; tergite 1 yellow except for a narrow, black posterior margin; tergites 4, 5 and 6 with posterior half yellow; anal tuft black dorsally, yellow ventrally.

̄16). Pupation takes place in a tough cocoon of silk intermingled with frass and debris. Before the adult moth emerges, the pupa wriggles so that it projects from the entrance hole. Adult moths emerged within two months after collecting, suggesting that this species may be bivoltine.
