Cells forming heteropolar colonies are arranged in a row or irregularly in mucilaginous sheath. Colonies are either connected to each other or, attached to the substrate. Cells are 2­8 μm in diameter, has subspherical, spherical, or rounded­polygonal shape, with blue­green content.
