Represented by a vertebra which

one of the best preserved in the collection. The most prominent specific character is seen in
|
|

|
|
entire roofing over of the neural canal
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF6834AFD8CFD62FDE6" box="[600,692,615,634]" italics="true" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">between</emphasis>
|
|
the anterior zygapophyses, and in the
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF68095FD6CFE28FD06" bold="true" box="[391,510,647,666]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">downward</emphasis>
|
|
production of the inferior median line of the centrum, and accompanying downward prolongation of the articular cups. The chordal perforation is at the superior fourth of the vertical diameter of the cups. The neural spine
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF68194FCE2FF4EFC80" bold="true" box="[134,152,777,796]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">is</emphasis>
|
|
produced backwards and curved tipwards, and
|
|

narrowed between the posterior zygapophyses, and is striate grooved on the under
|
|

|
|
. About half of the posterior zygapophysis projects beyond the edge of the cup of the
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF680FBFC86FD2DFC18" bold="true" box="[489,763,876,900]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">centrum. Immediately</emphasis>
|
|
below the anterior edge of the posterior zygapophysis, the diapophysis begins. It is vertical, of an irregular figure S in section, and is directed outwards
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF68033FC26FE9CFC7C" bold="true" box="[289,330,973,992]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">and</emphasis>
|
|
backwards. A foramen passes under its middle, emerging a little before
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF680A9FC05FE08FB9C" bold="true" box="[443,478,1006,1024]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">the</emphasis>
|
|
middle of the same horizontal diameter of
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF681C1FBE4FE89FBBD" bold="true" box="[211,351,1039,1057]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">the centrum</emphasis>
|
|
. It is joined by another which strikes it from below at
|
|

|

angles. There
|
|

a deep notch embraced
|
|

portion of the mandible. There is no angle projecting behind the quadrate facet, which is oblique, truncating the extremity of
|

<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF6800BFB19FEEDFA99" bold="true" box="[281,315,1266,1285]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">the</emphasis>
|
|
ramus. The lower edge is acute, behind roughened, and a thickening extends along the middle of the
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF6821BFAFEFC93FABB" bold="true" box="[777,837,1301,1319]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">inner</emphasis>
|
|
side of the ramns so far as preserved. The character is that of
|
|
<emphasis id="38D4EACEAF45FFF6822AFAD7FC92FAD5" bold="true" box="[824,836,1340,1353]" pageId="15" pageNumber="355">a</emphasis>
