This is a diverse woody mushroom genus common in deserts of the southwestern United States (

). This specimen was found growing on sandy soils on top of the plateau immediately southwest of MDRS. Unfortunately, the specimen was too old and degraded for anything other than a generic determination (Scott A. Redhead, personal communication) (Fig. 11).
