D). The plug was made up of an amorphous secretion (secretory mating plug), whether it is of male or female origin is unknown, and it appeared extremely hard. The plug is not restricted to the copulatory openings, but the entire epigynal region including the atria and the anterior pockets were sealed, making the plug so large that it has to be removed to facilitate species identification.
