Aranã is the Portuguese (

) name for an indigenous Brazilian tribe in the Vale do Jequitinhonha region, which is near the
<typeStatus id="54F61288FFF06B42FE21F913FD96E4C2" box="[484,535,1747,1773]" pageId="2" pageNumber="3">type</typeStatus>
locality. Today, their population has been nearly extinguished, so the new species is named in honour of these people.
