presents the abdominal somites 4 and 5 with dorsal tooth and have 4 dorsolateral spines on the tel- son, while
<emphasis id="B9650A67B162FFE8FED1FEE2A7C0D240" box="[275,407,261,287]" italics="true" pageId="10" pageNumber="411">A. kingsleyi</emphasis>
has abdominal somites 4 and 5 lacking dorsal tooth and 6 dorsolateral spines on the telson (Cardoso &amp; Young 2005).
<emphasis id="B9650A67B162FFE8FE00FECEA551D21C" box="[450,774,297,323]" italics="true" pageId="10" pageNumber="411">Acanthephyra quadrispinosa</emphasis>
occurs in the Atlantic, Indian and Pacific Oceans (Fig. 10) in bathypelagic zones (Cardoso &amp; Young 2005). In the South Atlantic,
<emphasis id="B9650A67B162FFE8FC0AFEAAA2DED238" box="[968,1161,333,359]" italics="true" pageId="10" pageNumber="411">A. quadrispinosa</emphasis>
was recorded by Kemp (1939) from African coast and posteriorly by Cardoso &amp; Young (2005) from Brazilian waters in states of Espírito Santo and Rio de Janeiro. In this paper
<emphasis id="B9650A67B162FFE8FD87FE72A554D2F0" box="[581,771,405,431]" italics="true" pageId="10" pageNumber="411">A. quadrispinosa</emphasis>
is reported for the first time in State of Pernambuco, located in Northeastern Brazil.
