), has been debated. Raheem et al. (2014) follow

The endodontid genera

generally include small species with more or less conical shells, and often with one or more distinct spiral threads. Particularly
<taxonomicName id="15927D88EF3A4B7FF4E3E6BE290A4CAD" class="Gastropoda" family="Charopidae" genus="Philalanka" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Philalanka" order="Stylommatophora" pageId="48" pageNumber="49" phylum="Mollusca" rank="genus">Philalanka</taxonomicName>
displays a wide range of shell shapes, which makes it impossible to find a diagnostic set that unequivocally distinguishes between the genera. However, we feel that including
<taxonomicName id="5A5B3EEC71CC328CB71BDE8AA8113AA2" class="Gastropoda" family="Charopidae" genus="Philalanka" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Philalanka" order="Stylommatophora" pageId="48" pageNumber="49" phylum="Mollusca" rank="genus">Philalanka</taxonomicName>
,
<taxonomicName id="3E751CB226F84D32A011B23755C0B72E" class="Gastropoda" family="Chronidae" genus="Kaliella" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Kaliella" order="Stylommatophora" pageId="48" pageNumber="49" phylum="Mollusca" rank="genus">Kaliella</taxonomicName>
and the various satellite genera into a single genus would be unjustified. This is in spite of the fact that we are in favour of genera of convenience, by necessity because in most cases our taxonomy is largely based on shells. The best we can do is to compare groups within

with groups within

which share one or two characters.
