Originally described from the east slope of Mt Elgon in
<collectingCountry id="F323761BFF2BFF4C32635DEDFC10FE46" box="[873,953,459,485]" name="Kenya" pageId="132" pageNumber="133">Kenya</collectingCountry>
. Probably endemic for this mountain range. It is the first record of this species on the Ugandan side of the border.
