locality and only 60 individuals occur in a small area. Therefore, we think that the habitat of this remarkable species should be conserved.

are usually

. We examined numerous herbarium specimens of
<emphasis id="B97EC27D2704FF9FF098A3712502B50F" box="[1172,1331,848,873]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="50">Melampyrum</emphasis>
from K, KUN, IBSC, MO, PE and TI. None of the described species of
<emphasis id="B97EC27D2704FF9FF777A3562426B5F6" box="[891,1047,887,912]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="50">Melampyrum</emphasis>
has a corolla tube longer than
<quantity id="4CF2B38A2704FF9FF172A35720FBB5D1" metricMagnitude="-2" metricUnit="m" metricValue="2.0" pageId="2" pageNumber="50" unit="mm" value="20.0">20 mm</quantity>
. Therefore, we believe that
<emphasis id="B97EC27D2704FF9FF628A3BC22F7B5D0" box="[548,710,925,950]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="50">M. koreanum</emphasis>
has the longest corolla tube and style of any
<emphasis id="B97EC27D2704FF9FF0F6A3BC25AAB5D0" box="[1274,1435,925,950]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="50">Melampyrum</emphasis>
species.

We observed pollinators from the natural locality of

for more than one hour. Hawkmoths of family Sphingidae were the only insects attracted to the

flowers. Therefore, we believe that the long corolla tube and style are the adaptive traits to the pollinator. In contrast, the flowers of
<emphasis id="B97EC27D2704FF9FF49BA4192122B237" box="[151,275,1080,1105]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="50">M. roseum</emphasis>
complex are usually visited by bees
