Relatively small damselflies compared to

, with beautifully patterned wings from dark with white or yellow bands (

), to hyaline with orange patches. Three of the six species are recorded for Ecuador with certainty; a fourth species possibly occurs. See Bick &amp; Bick (1992) for identification. Habitat is mostly small, mountainous, forested streams; females require decaying wood for oviposition. Species of

are rarely en- countered in the field.
