Taxonomic notes. This species closely resembles
<taxonomicName lsidName="C. knipowitschii" pageId="38" pageNumber="69" rank="species" species="knipowitschii">C. knipowitschii</taxonomicName>
concerning shape, size, and sculpture. According to
<bibRefCitation author="Boeters, HD" journalOrPublisher="Folia Malacologica" pageId="72" pageNumber="103" pagination="177 - 186" title="A new species of Caspia Clessin et W. Dybowski, 1887 (Gastropoda: Truncatelloidea: Hydrobiidae) in the Danube of Bulgaria." url="https://doi.org/10.12657/folmal.023.014" volume="23" year="2015">Boeters et al. (2015)</bibRefCitation>
, the two species differ in the degree of cover of the umbilicus, the shape of the peristome and the size and number of whorls of the protoconch. Molecular and/or more in-depth morphological and anatomical studies are required to confirm that these apparently minor differences are sufficient to separate the species.

Remarks. If the species would be confirmed, it concerns a Pontocaspian species whose distribution currently is outside prime Pontocaspian habitat, yet

<taxonomicName class="Gastropoda" family="Hydrobiidae" genus="Caspia" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Caspia" order="Littorinimorpha" pageId="38" pageNumber="69" phylum="Mollusca" rank="genus">Caspia</taxonomicName>
records from the lower Danube and Razim Lake complex might be attributed to
<taxonomicName lsidName="C. milae" pageId="38" pageNumber="69" rank="species" species="milae">C. milae</taxonomicName>
as well. The Razim Lake complex is Pontocaspian habitat.
