Cells are Gram-staining-positive, non-flagellated and coccus-shaped. Colonies are circular and white colored after 3 days on NA at 25°C. Positive for arginine dihydrolase, esculin hydrolysis,
<emphasis id="B95CEAF29F63144D695B4EF1FBE1FDF8" box="[1109,1124,504,528]" italics="true" pageId="12" pageNumber="37">β</emphasis>
-galactosidase, gelatinase, nitrate reduction and urease in API 20NE, but negative for glucose fermentation and indole production. Utilize Dglucose, D-maltose and D-mannose, but not utilize
<emphasis id="B95CEAF29F63144D68874D50FA1EFD98" box="[1417,1435,601,624]" italics="true" pageId="12" pageNumber="37">N</emphasis>
- acetyl-glucosamine, adipic acid, L-arabinose, capric acid, malic acid, D-mannitol, phenylacetic acid, potassium gluconate and trisodium citrate. Strain KHO6 (= NIBRBAC 000497838) has been isolated from Gut of Japanese crested ibis (
