Adults of this northern species are typically found in
<taxonomicName class="Magnoliopsida" family="Betulaceae" genus="Alnus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Plantae" lsidName="Alnus" order="Fagales" pageId="3" pageNumber="10" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="genus">Alnus</taxonomicName>
and

spp. litter by sifting and by treading vegetation on margins of bogs, shallow lakes, and streams (
