||
Head—body 48-58 mm, tail 33-41 mm, hindfoot 8-11 mm. No specific data are available for body weight. Condylo-basal length 14-8 (14-2-15-3) mm. Zaitsev’'s White-toothed Shrew has a very small body. Tail moderately long; ratio oftail length to head-body is 62-81%. Dorsal pelage is gray with a slightly brownish hue, grading into the slightly paler ventral pelage. Tail is similarly colored to the body, and the ventral surface is slightly paler; bristle hairs are present on the proximal two-thirds of the tail. Skull has a long and moderately narrow rostrum, narrow maxillary region, and relatively broad interorbital region.
