). Frustules in girdle view rectangular, singular. Chains linking several cells in colonies so far not observed. Valves isopolar, strictly lanceolate with convex margins and weakly protracted, rostrate apices. Smaller valves more rhombic-lanceolate with cuneate apices (Fig.
