The taro leafhopper was described from Suva,

, without mention of food plant. It is now known as a taro pest in
<collectingCountry box="[1343,1462,966,1006]" name="Samoa" pageId="3" pageNumber="152">Samoa</collectingCountry>
,
<collectingCountry box="[1494,1582,966,1006]" name="Niue" pageId="3" pageNumber="152">Niue</collectingCountry>
, Queensland, Amboina, Java, the
<collectingCountry box="[803,1004,1019,1060]" name="Philippines" pageId="3" pageNumber="152">Philippines</collectingCountry>
, and Hawaii. It was first reported in
<collectingCountry box="[1725,1829,1019,1060]" name="Guam" pageId="3" pageNumber="152">Guam</collectingCountry>
in 1924. In 1927, under the name

, it was reported as epidemic, and its attacks were followed by a fungus disease

sp.) that often ruined the entire crop. In
<date box="[1030,1142,1178,1220]" pageId="3" pageNumber="152" value="1936-01">1936 I</date>
did not see any serious injury by the taro leafhopper in
<collectingCountry box="[779,887,1231,1273]" name="Guam" pageId="3" pageNumber="152">Guam</collectingCountry>
. In fact, it was rather scarce on dryland taro, the predominant
<taxonomicName box="[670,923,1284,1326]" pageId="3" pageNumber="152" rank="variety" variety="grown">variety grown</taxonomicName>
. In a few places where there were small plantings of wet taro by ditches the leafhopper was very abundant, but did not seem to affect the taro seriously.

A dryinid parasite attacks this leafhopper to a slight extent. Parasitized leafhoppers and parasite cocoons were found on taro leaves at Dededo, Merizo, and Libugon. Three female dryinids and

were obtained from these cocoons.

) which is now attacking the taro leafhopper in Hawaii. It was introduced from

in 1906 as a parasite for the sugar cane leafhopper.

<paragraph blockId="3.[430,1830,681,1917]" pageId="3" pageNumber="152">Attempts were made to breed out egg parasites, but none were obtained. Two fungus diseases killed some of the leafhoppers, the dead ones adhering to the leaves.</paragraph>
