Members of this group share symmetrical aedeagi with the dorsal side of the apical process of the median lobe bearing a partly split valve (

). These species have a complex internal sac, parameres usually lobed, the articular process of the median lobe not prominent, the metaventrite with antecoxal puncture rows, the elytral punctation often conspicuously coarse and partly arranged to form oblique rows, the sutural striae of the elytra shortened and not bent at bases, and the abdomen with strigulate microsculpture.
