This widespread eastern Nearctic species was considered extirpated from the Shawnee Hills region of southern Illinois (

). The sole record of

from Illinois was collected in 1932 from Massac County (

). These specimens have been missing from the
<collectionCode box="[1050,1117,1363,1387]" collectionName="USA, Illinois, Champaign, Illinois Natural History Survey" pageId="7" pageNumber="38">INHS</collectionCode>
collection for decades, but were located in the Canadian National Collection as part of the W. E. Ricker collection. Many other
<collectionCode box="[1375,1442,1434,1458]" collectionName="USA, Illinois, Champaign, Illinois Natural History Survey" pageId="7" pageNumber="38">INHS</collectionCode>
vials were found there as well. We have re-evaluated these specimens and find them to be

. Although several papers report this species from Indiana (e.g.

), extensive collecting across the state and examination of all important museum holdings (

) has failed to produce either recent or historical material. Removal of this species from both states lists seems justified.
