This species can be easily recognized by its completely black body and wings and contrasting red legs. It resembles

: predominantly black; trochanters, femora basally, last tarsomeres, apical marginal zone of T6, entire T7, S24 dark brown to brown; mouthparts, remainder of legs, S5 and S6 bright reddish brown; wing veins, including pterostigma, black, membrane strongly infuscate, except for narrow hyaline areas along flexion lines within submarginal and cubital cells, as well as along 2m-cu and 3rs-m.
<emphasis id="B9058F0A4465FFA4F7800FA8FDDFA456" box="[395,521,245,269]" italics="true" pageId="7" pageNumber="2925">Pubescence</emphasis>
: ferruginous on reddish brown areas and brown to light brown on areas with dark integument, except for black setae covering wings. Dense and finely plumose on labrum, middle and lower paraocular areas, gena, posterior portion of pronotal lobes and outer surface of mid and hind tibiae; on remainder of body, mostly sparse and simple or only with few branches. Disc of mesoscutum uniformly covered with short, mostly simple, erect setae, branched setae restricted to medial portion anteriorly and corners posteriorly. Lateral surface of mesepisternum with sparse and relatively long setae, longest setae about 1.31.4

as long as length of 2nd flagellomere. Setae on central portion of metanotum distinctly shorter than those on lateral portions. Metapostnotum completely glabrous. Entire outer surface of hindtibia with numerous strong, downward-curved bristles among the plumose setae. T1 almost glabrous, with very sparse and short setae along posterior marginal zone, and longer setae on ventral portions; disc of T25 uniformly covered with short and relatively sparse pubescence, distance between setigerous punctures about one setal length; ventral portion of T24, posterior discal margin of T56 and S25, sides of T7, and exposed portion of S6 with long, simple, reddish brown setae; posterior apical margin of S5 with distinct fringe of long, plumose, reddish brown setae.

: predominantly very smooth and shiny; setigerous punctures very fine, except for a few strong punctures on clypeus and for those on lateral surface of mesepisternum. Metapostnotum smooth, without a basal depression.
