Although venational differences have been and still are used for the primary diagnoses of genera, we now know that some venational characters often employed as criteria may vary within a species as well as between species within a genus, or may be of specific value only. All this is well exemplified within the genus

In Mexico it is known from Baja California and in the states of Chihuahua, Guanajuato, Guerrero, Jalisco, Michoacan, Morelos, Nayarit, Nuevo Leon, Oaxaca, Tabasco, and Veracruz. In Central America it is known from Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, and Panama. In South America it has been reported only from Colombia and Venezuela.
