Godwin-Austen stated that this taxon was named after Captain Talbot and based on specimens from the collection of A. Everett. The NHM collections contain a lot of three specimens mounted on a single specimen board. The specimen labelled 1889.12.7.7 is marked with the word type, and the original description details. The two other specimens are from the W. Jeakes Esq. (NHMUK 1859.3.30.12) and C. Hose Esq. (1893.3.10.3) collections and have no associated locality data and are therefore excluded from the type series. The use of the term
