). The spermathecal duct extends into the base of the subgenitale and the tubular opening of the spermatheca faces posteriorly. It appears that the female everts the subgenitale during or after copulation and that the structure has a role in (a) holding the spermatophore to the genital opening and/or (b) gathering sperm or other substances from the spermatophore.
