Although the gonotheca was originally described as broadly rectangular and laterally flattened (thus possibly male), Ralph stated that Hartlaub would have seen some gonothecae “rectangular in general outline and others with two peaks at the distal end”, thus concluding that “some at least of Hartlaubs specimens of
