This is easily the rarest of the
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Leuctridae" genus="Zealeuctra" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Zealeuctra" order="Plecoptera" pageId="17" pageNumber="34" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Zealeuctra</taxonomicName>
species, currently known only from two streams within a very small geographic area in the Texas Hill Country region (Fig. 13;

), overlapping in range and adult flight periods only with

. The long and very slender epiproct spine exhibited by

is unique and easily distinguished from all members of this genus. In addition, the females of
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Leuctridae" genus="Zealeuctra" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Zealeuctra stewarti" order="Plecoptera" pageId="17" pageNumber="34" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="stewarti">Zealeuctra stewarti</taxonomicName>
and
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Leuctridae" genus="Zealeuctra" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Zealeuctra warreni" order="Plecoptera" pageId="17" pageNumber="34" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="species" species="warreni">Zealeuctra warreni</taxonomicName>
are the only two
<taxonomicName class="Insecta" family="Leuctridae" genus="Zealeuctra" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Zealeuctra" order="Plecoptera" pageId="17" pageNumber="34" phylum="Arthropoda" rank="genus">Zealeuctra</taxonomicName>
species lacking a posterior lobe nested in central notch and where the posteromedial portion of the 7th sternum is flap-like and extending over the anteromedial margin of the 8th sternum.
