Another unexpected and novel result is the apparent phylogenetic relationship between

and a North Pacific species,

MacFarland, 1966. In our analysis
<taxonomicName lsidName="C. pricei" pageId="58" pageNumber="59" rank="species" species="pricei">C. pricei</taxonomicName>
appears either as sister to the
<taxonomicName family="Samlidae" lsidName="" pageId="58" pageNumber="59" rank="family">Samlidae</taxonomicName>
s. str. (i.e.
<taxonomicName class="Gastropoda" family="Samlidae" genus="Samla" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Animalia" lsidName="Samla" order="Nudibranchia" pageId="58" pageNumber="59" phylum="Mollusca" rank="genus">Samla</taxonomicName>

) or as a separate clade basal to

is also quite separate from any
<taxonomicName family="Flabellinidae" lsidName="" pageId="58" pageNumber="59" rank="family">Flabellinidae</taxonomicName>
s. l. since it possesses peculiar comb-shaped ceratal rows in combination with a relatively long and thick vas deferens and smooth lateral teeth. Thus,
<taxonomicName lsidName="C. pricei" pageId="58" pageNumber="59" rank="species" species="pricei">C. pricei</taxonomicName>
deserves not only a new genus but also a family-level taxon. Despite its somewhat unstable position, a new genus and family are established for
<taxonomicName lsidName="C. pricei" pageId="58" pageNumber="59" rank="species" species="pricei">C. pricei</taxonomicName>
in order to highlight obvious morphological and molecular differences from the
<taxonomicName family="Samlidae" lsidName="" pageId="58" pageNumber="59" rank="family">Samlidae</taxonomicName>
(

Burn, 1966 was described from southern Australia (

) and possesses simple raised rows of cerata instead of clusters or stalks, a triserial radula with smooth lateral teeth, and a reproductive system without a supplementary gland at the penis and single distal receptaculum seminis. These characters are in agreement with the diagnosis of the family

, and we therefore included

in this family until molecular data are available.
