Classified as Data Deficient on The IUCNRed List, due to the lack of information on its population status. The Fierce Leaf-nosed Bat occurs at low densities and it has only been reported from a few localities. The overall population is thought to be decreasing. Further research on ecology and threats is needed in order to establish adequate conservation measures.
