The name
<taxonomicName genus="Auchenorrhyncha" lsidName="Auchenorrhyncha galerita" pageId="13" pageNumber="84" rank="species" species="galerita">galerita</taxonomicName>
is derived from the Latin word for wearing a hood because this species has a large head evoking the image of a hooded figure. This name is to be used as a noun in apposition. This name is to be used as a participle.

This species most closely resembles

, but the two can be easily distinguished from each other by comparing the mandibles:
