The second candidate species is also represented by only one genetically verified voucher specimen. This terrapin from the Naturhistorisches Museum Wien (NMW 24451) was collected by Franz Werner in
<date id="37151049F922FFD5FB27FC16FA86FC78" box="[1220,1359,942,967]" pageId="21" pageNumber="544" value="1914-03">March 1914</date>
at Al- Ubayyid (El Obeid), North Kurdufan,
<collectingCountry id="3BBC7619F922FFD5FDABFC6AFD5BFC54" box="[584,658,978,1003]" name="Sudan" pageId="21" pageNumber="544">Sudan</collectingCountry>
. It is a light-coloured subadult with an entirely yellow plastron and a straight carapacial length of
<quantity id="84539B6CF922FFD5FE06FC4EFD8FFBB1" box="[485,582,1014,1039]" metricMagnitude="-1" metricUnit="m" metricValue="1.42" pageId="21" pageNumber="544" unit="cm" value="14.2">14.2 cm</quantity>
. Its pectoral scutes are triangular, but reach the plastral midline. As with candidate species A, the genetic distances of this Sudanese terrapin resemble the divergences among other distinct

The genetic lineage of candidate species B was hitherto unknown. According to our analyses of mtDNA sequences, candidate species B belongs into the northern clade of
