was proposed based on a specimen collected from
<taxonomicName class="Magnoliopsida" family="Rosaceae" genus="Prunus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Plantae" lsidName="Prunus" order="Rosales" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="genus">Prunus</taxonomicName>
branches in Sichuan province, China. However, no living culture or DNA data were available (

). In addition, the asexual Asexual morph was not included in the original description (

). During our fungal collection trip in China, two
<taxonomicName class="Leotiomycetes" family="Dermateaceae" genus="Dermea" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Fungi" lsidName="Dermea" order="Helotiales" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" phylum="Ascomycota" rank="genus">Dermea</taxonomicName>
specimens were accidentally discovered on a common road tree,
<taxonomicName class="Magnoliopsida" family="Rosaceae" form="atropurpurea" genus="Prunus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" infraspecific-rank="f." kingdom="Plantae" lsidName="Prunus cerasifera" order="Rosales" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="form" species="cerasifera">Prunus cerasifera f. atropurpurea</taxonomicName>
in Shaanxi province, which borders Sichuan province, the original collection province of the holotype. Asexual fruiting bodies were observed on the whole trees, from stems to branches. However, no sexual asexual morph was found, even though we investigated all
<taxonomicName class="Magnoliopsida" family="Rosaceae" genus="Prunus" higherTaxonomySource="CoL" kingdom="Plantae" lsidName="Prunus" order="Rosales" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="genus">Prunus</taxonomicName>
trees along the road. Conidial size was compared among our collections,
<taxonomicName lsidName="D. cerasi" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" rank="species" species="cerasi">D. cerasi</taxonomicName>
,
<taxonomicName lsidName="D. padi" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" rank="species" species="padi">D. padi</taxonomicName>
, and
<taxonomicName lsidName="D. prunastri" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" rank="species" species="prunastri">D. prunastri</taxonomicName>
, which can distinguish them (Table 2). Considering that our collections and the type specimen (Teng #3352, preserved in the herbarium of the University of Michigan) of
<taxonomicName lsidName="D. pruni" pageId="0" pageNumber="79" rank="species" species="pruni">D. pruni</taxonomicName>
were collected from the same hosts and from nearby regions (

), our specimens were identified and treated here as

. However, more detailed taxonomic studies are needed, including DNA extraction from the holotype of

to compare ITS sequences of our collections and the holotype.
