Cells are Gram-stain-negative, rod shaped, motile cells 13 µm long, with a single polar flagellum. Organisms in this genus form small light-coloured (opaque creamy) colonies on plates (&lt;

). Optimum growth occurs at 30°C at pH 11. Preferred media is without NaCl. Cells are catalase positive and sensitive to the antibiotics, kanamycin (50 µg
