Our specimens three very small, probably juvenile sponges, having rounded bodies on thin stalks. The largest specimen has a body diameter of
<quantity id="4CBE9B23CD23881282F6FAE7FCC7FA65" box="[735,803,1396,1420]" metricMagnitude="-3" metricUnit="m" metricValue="2.0" pageId="16" pageNumber="44" unit="mm" value="2.0">2 mm</quantity>
. Spicules are oxeas, often centrotylote, about 270 to 510 µm in length and 8 to 10 µm in diameter and filamentous oxeas with one end elongated, about 400 to 550 µm in length and 5 µm in diameter.

Due to the small size of the sponges, the number of spicules in our preparations is low and gaps in the spicule inventory are not surprising.

The characters of our sponges are in well accordance with those described for the
<typeStatus id="54FD8864CD23881284B8F9B4FB17F9D6" box="[1169,1267,1575,1599]" pageId="16" pageNumber="44" type="holotype">holotype</typeStatus>
by Uriz
<emphasis id="B932EAD4CD2388128549F9BAFA71F9A9" box="[1376,1429,1576,1600]" italics="true" pageId="16" pageNumber="44">et al</emphasis>
. (2011), with the exception that most spicules are significantly shorter than in the
<typeStatus id="54FD8864CD238812840BF9DEFBB2F98C" box="[1058,1110,1613,1637]" pageId="16" pageNumber="44">type</typeStatus>
. This might be caused by the juvenile state of our sponges, as also Uriz
<emphasis id="B932EAD4CD23881282BFF9E2FD2FF961" box="[662,715,1648,1672]" italics="true" pageId="16" pageNumber="44">et al</emphasis>
. (2011) mentioned that the spicules were smaller in younger specimens. The species has a complicated and long history, it was recorded several times from the
<collectingCountry id="F3517656CD23881284C4F907FAB1F945" box="[1261,1365,1684,1708]" name="Antarctica" pageId="16" pageNumber="44">Antarctic</collectingCountry>
under the name of the Arctic

. (2011) were able to show that the spherical morphotype within the

need to be re-examined to be sure about their correct species assignment, as the species shows a high degree of variation in its body shape (from round to elongate). Currently it seems that
