Gelatinous colony encrusting various substrata including sea grass, rocks, and live crabs, ranging in size from a few mm to several cm maximum diameter. Zooids elongate-oval to irregularly polygonal, quite transparent, translucent whitish outlines of retracted polypides visible inside, but grooves marking the walls that separate them are indistinct (
