, the basidiomata have a denser, tough-membranaceous texture compared to the soft woolly basidiomata of

. In addition, the aculei in
<taxonomicName lsidName="X. vesiculosus" pageId="0" pageNumber="97" rank="species" species="vesiculosus">X. vesiculosus</taxonomicName>
are larger and the basidia are thin-walled in contrast to the smaller aculei and basally thick-walled basidia found in
<taxonomicName lsidName="X. lanatus" pageId="0" pageNumber="97" rank="species" species="lanatus">X. lanatus</taxonomicName>
