Cells are Gram-stain-negative, facultative anaerobic, rod-shaped, motile with several flagella, 2.1–2.7 µm long and 0.7–0.9 µm wide. Colonies are creamy and convex. Growth occurs at 4–34 °C (optimum, 24 °C), pH 4.0–10.5 (optimum, pH 7.0–7.5) and 0–1.5% NaCl (w/v; optimum, 0–0.5%). Positive for oxidase, catalase, urease and nitrate reduction, but negative for H
