Cells are Gram-stain-negative, aerobic, facultative anaerobic, rod-shaped, motile with several flagella, 1.3–2.3 µm long and 0.7–0.8 µm wide. Colonies are creamy and concave with a wrinkled margin. Growth occurs at 10–30 °C (optimum, 24 °C), pH 4.5–9.5 (optimum, pH 7.0) and 0–0.5% NaCl (w/v; optimum, 0%). Positive for oxidase, catalase, urease, nitrate reduction and H
