This new species is distinguished from other Cretaceous

<emphasis id="B9187C2BFFEFFFAAFC06F9E9FBAB5740" box="[915,1035,1580,1606]" italics="true" pageId="3" pageNumber="538">Culicoides</emphasis>
</taxonomicName>
by the following female characters: antennal flagellum with cylindrical flagellomeres, 28 elongate, 913 greatly elongate, only flagellomere 1 with sensilla coeloconica; entire wing membrane with macrotrichia; palpal segment 3 slender without sensory pit; proboscis 2.1 x longer than eye height. Male unknown.
