of this species, previously known only from

, were collected on Maui, on the wetlands behind Waihee Beach amongst dodder and
<taxonomicName id="4C313AB77C36FFED3E42C5EA75FEFE3F" box="[888,1008,419,443]" class="Liliopsida" family="Cyperaceae" kingdom="Plantae" order="Poales" pageId="4" pageNumber="21" phylum="Tracheophyta" rank="family">Cyperaceae</taxonomicName>
(deposited in
<collectionCode id="ED20D9F17C36FFED3FEDC5887514FE5D" box="[727,794,449,473]" country="Australia" httpUri="http://biocol.org/urn:lsid:biocol.org:col:32981" lsid="urn:lsid:biocol.org:col:32981" name="Australian National Insect Collection" pageId="4" pageNumber="21">ANIC</collectionCode>
). These females were identified from the description given by

in a key to the species of the genus. These specimens agree well with that description, except that they have the basal half of antennal segments III and IV more extensively yellow.

is remarkable for its color, even in the field. The abdomen and forewings are dark brown, but the pterothorax is white, the pronotum is white with brown lateral margins (

), and the head is white medially but brown at the anterior and posterolaterally. The only other member of this genus with a similar dark brown abdomen is
