, despite the absence of a dorsal appendage on the male pygofer, is justified by the presence of macrosetae on the dorsal margin of the pygofer and by the coloration, which is indistinguishable from that of many other members of the genus. The aedeagus is unique among known species of the genus in having upaired apical and preapical posterior spines. The specific name refers to the obsolete dorsal pygofer appendage.
