Buccal cone elongated. Mandible thin. Head with 3 chaetae Oc, chaetae A, B, C and E. Tubercles Dl, L and So with 6, 4 and 6 chaetae respectively. Tubercles Di and De on thoracic tergum I partially fused. Tubercles De on thoracic terga II and III with 3 and 4 chaetae respectively. Tubercles L on abdominal terga III and IV with 4 and 7 chaetae respectively. Tubercles Di on thoracic tergum V fused. Cryptopygy present.

The name is derived from the Latin word “compingo”–fuse, consolidate. It refers to the fusion of tubercles on thoracic tergum V.
