TPS509 resulted in the detection of two major sesquiterpene alcohols, guaiol (

) (RI: 1585, 34% of the area) and bulnesol (
<emphasis id="B94DEAC7FF9B4066FA81759BE06CDDC5" bold="true" box="[1317,1329,898,917]" pageId="1" pageNumber="169">4</emphasis>
) (RI: 1654, 20% of the area) (

). Compound

exhibited similar EI MS spectrum to those of bulnesol and guaiol in NIST and Wiley GC-MS spectrum libraries. The product profile showed several additional compounds, and we could identify two minor products; guaiene (RI 1418, Rt: 8.6)) and bulnesene (RI 1487, Rt: 9.18) (

</taxonomicName>
leaves, expressing
<emphasis id="B94DEAC7FF9B4066FB99725CE112DA08" bold="true" box="[1085,1103,1093,1112]" italics="true" pageId="1" pageNumber="169">Tl</emphasis>
TPS509 was analyzed by GC-MS using a Programmed Temperature Vaporising injector (PTV) port. By using a low initial temperature of 60 ̊C followed by a gradual increase to 250 ̊C it was expected that thermal rearrangements were avoided. Again,
<emphasis id="B94DEAC7FF984065FF0275DCE5EFDD88" bold="true" box="[166,178,965,984]" pageId="2" pageNumber="170">3</emphasis>
and
<emphasis id="B94DEAC7FF984065FF4575DCE5B0DD88" bold="true" box="[225,237,965,984]" pageId="2" pageNumber="170">4</emphasis>
were detected as major compounds, but not guaiene and bulnesene, which were probably below the detection limit. Furthermore, neither of the unknown compounds with
<emphasis id="B94DEAC7FF984065FD8D75E5E713DA5F" bold="true" box="[553,590,1020,1039]" italics="true" pageId="2" pageNumber="170">m/z</emphasis>
220 were detected in the PTV analysis.
