are recognized by having: (i) live adult female body with a series of marginal, mediolateral and medial white waxy protrusions; and in slide-mounted specimens, (ii) antennae each with 3 segments, third antennal segment with a slender apical seta; (iii) eye stalk protruding, thumb-like; (iv) legs well developed, with trochanter and femur fused, tibia and tarsus fused; leg setae robust and spine-like; tarsus without digitules; claw digitules like short setae, claw without a denticle; (v) labium 2 segmented, with many setae and with 3 long setae near apex very close together, all situated in a single setal socket; (vi) modified pores, each with 2, 3 or 4 loculi, scattered over surface; (vi) abdominal spiracles on anterior abdominal segments ventral, with at least 1 present on each side of segments I, II or III; posterior abdominal spiracles located on dorsum near anal ring, surrounded by a cluster of multilocular pores; (vii) anal ring bearing 6 setae; and (viii) sclerotized plate present on dorsum anterior to anal ring, wider than long.
